Our coast is fragile. The Georgia and South Carolina coast has over 1/3 of all the saltmarsh on the eastern US seaboard. This saltmarsh protects the mainland, acting like a sponge against tidal surge and storms. Our estuaries are the birthing ground or nursery for over 70% of the fishery in the North Atlantic Ocean. Protecting our coast is critical to our economy, our quality of life and all the wildlife who call this coast their home too.
